Letter Forms Puzzle

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

A fun way for kids to learn their letter forms.

I printed the letters on a colored sheet. And laminated them separately.

Then printed out the puzzle base and laminated that as well, and stuck velcro on the puzzle base and the behind the letters.

The child has the match the letters according to the images.

You can download the printable here.

Please let me know if there are any problems with the file.

I hope you find benefit in using these to leach your children the language of the Qur'an.

Hifdh Chart for Encouraging Kids

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Over the past year, my 5 year old and I have been waiting so often, for seeds to germinate, or for the shoots to appear, or for roots to appear... etc. So I took this idea from @mamateachesme where she used her daughter's love of the space and launched 'rockets represented by Surahs into space once she had memorized them.

And Alhamdulillah it's been working beautifully. He is so excited to perfect his recitation to get the seeds to sprout. And since sprouts don't come up overnight, rather it takes time, and is a slow process, I explain to him he will learn slowly and perfect it slowly, and that there's no need to be frustrated or in a hurry.

Alhamdulillah for this.

Basically I colored in the field background with crayons.

Then pasted pictures of soil with the Surah name underneath. Then laminated it.

Then I colored the sides of some images of small plants. Cut them out, and laminated them.

Then placed velcro behind the plants and above the mud.

You can download the printables here.

I've also included some blank mud images that you can write in the names of whichever Surahs you are working on your kids with.

Surat Al-Falaq Activities

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

These are some activities we did with my 5 year old for Surat Al-Falaq:

1. A puzzle. For Surat An-Naas, each verse was in a different color to make it easier, and in this Surah, I used patterns.

You can download the PDF here: Surat Al-Falaq Puzzle.

2. We also did a little activity to make him to know the 4 things that we are asking Allaah's protection from in this Surah.

The little orange cards are in the same file as the 'jealousy' activity below.

3. An activity to help him to teach his heart to feel the right way instead of feeling jealous when he sees his friends or others having things that he himself loves and would like to have.

I printed out pictures of things he loves, and I know he wants for himself. Then we lined up all his toy friends, and gave those 'things' to his friends, we would sometimes name the toy to be one of his real friends.

Then we would read out what he should feel in his heart when he sees something like that happening.

I felt that instead of telling him what NOT to do, it would be more helpful to help him to learn the RIGHT way to feel in his heart, to counter jealousy.

The text read as follows (don't know if the image will be clear enough):

What I should feel in my heart, when I see my Muslim brother having/getting something nice:

1.     You got a wonderful thing!
2.     You must be so happy!
3.     I feel so happy for you!
4.     I am happy that you are happy.
5.     I hope you will enjoy your gift a lot, and that Allaah will put barakah in it.
6.     And I hope that Allaah will give ME a gift like this too!

The printables for this activity and the previous one can be downloaded here.

4. Lastly, since the word 'min' (from) is recurring in the Aayah, we did an activity to help him to learn the meaning of the preposition 'min' (من).

This one says, "Get me a plate from the kitchen."

"Get me a pillow from the bedroom."

"Get me a book from the bookshelf."

I asked him to get me a certain object from a certain place. And he had to first make the sentences, and then bring me the object. It was engaging, and hands on, I think he got it Alhamdulillah.

The file with the printables for this activity and the last one can be downloaded here: Min Preposition Activity.

I hope that you find benefit in these.

Activity for the Arabic Preposition 'fee' (in)

Assalam alaykum,

We did an activity to get them to understand the meaning of the Arabic preposition 'fee' (in):

We got out the 5 objects and 5 containers needed. I made him familiar with the vocabulary.

then I made sentences using the words and he had to put the right object IN the right container. I said to him in Arabic, "َDa3 (the object) fee (the container)". I explained to him that that means 'put' the object into the container. We read the sentences and translated them. Alhamdulillah they loved it and want to do it again.

The printable for the words can be downloaded here.

وَ لله الحَمد والشكر.

Surat An-Naas Puzzle

Assalam alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

This is a Surat An-Naas puzzle. Each verse has a different color on it to make it easier for younger kids who don't know how to read very well. It helped my son to engage with the words, try and figure out what the words were with the knowledge that he does have.

I tied a long string across the room and he hung the words using clothespins using the sheet with the entire Surah on it as a guide.

He knows the Surah by heart already, so this was an activity to develop his reading skills.

Hope your child will also benefit from this.
